Experience Newark Event Sponsorship Program: Winter & Holidays Cycle
Overview
The Winter & Holidays Cycle of the Experience Newark Event Sponsorship Program awards micro-grants of $1,000 to $5,000 to events held in Newark between November 28 and December 31, 2026. Events may be winter-themed, seasonal, or connected to any holiday or cultural observance.
The Experience Newark Event Sponsorship Program is an initiative of the Newark Alliance that provides financial support to Newark-based nonprofits, community groups, small businesses, and individual residents who host events that strengthen community pride, celebrate Newark’s culture and diversity, and attract both residents and visitors to the city.
Through micro-grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, the program helps cover key event expenses such as marketing, permitting, production, and local talent honorariums. Sponsorships are intended to complement other sources of support—applicants are encouraged to leverage additional sponsorships, donations, in-kind contributions, and volunteer services to maximize their event’s impact.
The program prioritizes events that drive foot traffic into Newark’s commercial corridors, support local businesses, and create opportunities for cultural exchange and economic activity. Eligible event formats include festivals, cultural, seasonal, and holiday celebrations, arts and music showcases, public markets, neighborhood block parties, and creative community events. Winter-specific formats are welcome, such as tree and menorah lightings, winter markets, light displays, outdoor winter activities, gift fairs, and seasonal performances.
For this cycle, all events must be winter-themed, seasonal, or connected to a holiday or cultural observance, and must take place between November 28 and December 31, 2026.
Funding is distributed in two installments: 75% upon approval and the remaining 25% after submission of a satisfactory post-event report, including event outcomes and documentation.
Deadline to Apply
Applications for the Winter & Holidays Cycle are due Friday, November 6, 2026. Awardees will be notified by Wednesday, November 18, 2026. This cycle uses a fixed deadline rather than rolling review, so every application is considered together.
